Sealing Tape Rolls

  • Two lengths of sealing tape

Peel off all of the old tape before adding a new strip.

When replacing a strip, it is VERY important to get the tape squished into the far edges of the TAP bag. Use a rounded edge block or the handle of the pump to push the sealing goo into both side edges.

Sealing Tape Tips:

Keep your sealing tape clean, and replace when the strip becomes ragged and filled with bits of foam, sawdust and glue.

If your tape becomes too thin from repeated uses, it may not have enough thickness to properly seal the bag, so it is time to replace it.

Keep the unused tape in a protected container, as sawdust and other debris get stuck to the sticky tape before you can use it.

Keep your Sealing Tape Clean:

Q: Why not use a C-Channel or Ziplock® style closure instead of this hard-to-use stuff?
A: We have found that only this tape is robust enough to ensure a 100% airtight seal for the 8 hours of drying time. The C-channel and zipper closures are great for pump systems that cycle on and off continuously, but not for the TAP system.

Q: What is sealing tape made of?
A: It is butyl tape which is actually uncured rubber. Similar to the stuff they seal car windshields with, the tape we use is just sticky enough to open and close, while still makes a strong seal.

Q: How many times can I use this before replacing it?
A: Some customers have reported that they can use a tape seal for 40 – 50 times. Generally about 15 – 20 is a more typical number of uses.

Q: How do I get more uses out of the sealing tape?
A: If you remember to replace the paper strip back onto the tape BEFORE removing your pressing from the bag, it will stay much cleaner. If you remove your project, dragging it over the sticky tape will allow bits of foam, glue and sawdust to stick to it.  TIP: when doing your pressing, remove the paper strip and tuck it inside the bag before sealing it. That way, it will be right there for you to replace before removing your pressing.
